I’m always eager to read your comments about my books and stories, so please feel free to pitch in. Here are a few things for you to know:
1) I answer the messages here personally.
2) No message shows up here until I actually answer it to prevent spam and other inappropriate postings. So there will sometimes be a delay before your message posts, especially if I am traveling.
3) Teachers, a gentle request: Please do not have multiple children send me variants of the same message. A group email is much easier to respond to and not such a drain on my time. My thanks in advance for being alert to this.

Don't worry. I considered it a good teaching moment, and the old teacher in me rose to the occasion. Alas, Windsor is rather a far drive from Syracuse, so it's unlikely I'll be stopping by any time.
All best,

Hi, Hanna -
I'm going to put on my teacher hat here (did you know that I used to be a schoolteacher?) and tell you that when asking a busy person for information you should never request him or her to tell you something that you can easily discover for yourself. In this case, if you go to the Full Cast Audio webpage (www.fullcastaudio.com, naturally) you will find Tabs titled "About Us" and "FAQs" ("Frequently Asked Questions") where you can find ten times as much information as I would provide in an answer here.
Good luck with your report! Let me know how it comes out.
All best,
Bruce

i liked Jeremy thatcher, dragon hatcher and also i think you could put some photos of characters on your website.

Hi, Toby -
Really glad to know that you liked JEREMY THATCHER so much.
There is some artwork showing the characters on the website. I don't have photos, of course, since the characters come out of my imagination.
Thanks for writing - I very much like hearing from my fans who live overseas!

Hi, Hannah =
I had two brothers and one sister. Not a big family, not a small family, sort of just right. As a parent myself I have two sons and a daughter. Not a big family, not a small family, sort of just right.
Interesting that you are in sixth grade, as it was my own 6th grade teacher who first got me really interested in writing. Her name was Mrs. Crandall, and I dedicated MY TEACHER IS AN ALIEN to her because of how much she meant to me.
Good luck with your report. Make sure you read the biography on the webpage.

Dear Mr. Coville,
Our class just finished reading JEREMY THATCHER, DRAGON HATCHER, and we just had to write to you! We LOVED this book! We really liked how Jeremy and Tiamat connected, and we especially loved the message you were trying to tell us. We wondered if there will ever be any more adventures with Jeremy and Tiamat? We'd love to read more! We think this book would make a GREAT movie! Thank you for writing such a good book for us to enjoy in our classroom. We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas!

To My Pals in Mrs. Babbitt's Class -
Hey, gang - thanks for this message. I'm delighted that you loved this book so much. I don't have any plans for another adventure for Jeremy and Tiamat at this point, but I should tell you that there are four more books that start out in Mr. Elives' Magic Shop. (Each of them has a different main character.)
I agree that JEREMY would make a great movie. Or maybe I should say that it could make a great movie, if the filmmakers get it right. I've seen too many bad films based on great books to take it for granted that a film would turn out great!
Thanks for the holiday good wishes! I love this time of year. I hope you all have wonderful holidays as well!

I just finished reading Always October to my 3 children (ages 6-11). We fell in love with your writing with the Unicorn series. Parents and children alike here LOVED this one just as much, and we're praying for a sequel!! Thank you!

Hi, Arlene -
Many thanks for this message. ALWAYS OCTOBER is new enough that I have not had many messages about it, so I remain eager to know how people are liking it. It was a tough one for me to write - the plot got much more complicated than I had originally anticipated. But I was really happy with it by the time I finished.
Also glad to know you liked the Unicorn Chronicles. Those books are very dear to my heart.
No sequel to ALWAYS OCTOBER on the horizon, alas. My editor and champion broke my heart by moving to a new publishing company. Sigh.
Thanks again for this message!
All best,
Bruce

Goblins in the Castle was AWESOME! We read it together as a class. We are starting our own writers workshop and have a few questions for you. What inspired you to become a writer? How many times did you have to rewrite Goblins in the Castle before you created your final copy? What are your number one tips for young writer? Thanks for creating so much enjoyment in our classroom! Hope to hear from you soon.

To my Pals in B10 -
Oh, man, I'm delighted to know that you thought Goblins in the Castle was AWESOME! (That's one of my favorite words when it is applied to my books!) I'm especially pleased, because just a few weeks ago I submitted the manuscript for a sequel! This time Fauna tells the story, but all of our old friends - William, Igor, and Herky (of course) - are along for the adventure, as well as some new characters that I hope you will like. It's called, for now at least, Goblins on the Prowl. Alas, it will be at least a year, maybe more, before it is published.
It was books that made me want to become a writer. I loved them so much I wanted to make my own!
I can't remember how many drafts I did of Goblins in the Castle but I can tell you that I'm on Draft 11 of the sequel, and probably have at least two more to go!
You can find my tips for young writers on the same website as this guestbook. There's a whole page of them.
Thanks for reading my book . . . and for sending this message!
All best,
BC
Yike! That message had too many exclamation points! (So does this one!) ;>

When I was seven years old (31) years ago I won a reading competition in my school. My prize was a signed copy of 'The Monster's Ring'. I am now a mother (as well as teacher) with a seven year old daughter. My Mom just gave me back my copy and it is the next book I will be reading to her. We will also be checking out some more of your series. Thanks for the signed book.
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Mandy -
Wow! I just did the math, and your copy must have come from the very first printing. I'm delighted to know that you're going to share the book with your daughter. As time has gone on (and I have grown older...) one of the things I have come to love is being a "Second Generation Author" -- that is one whose books are being shared by their original readers with their own children. It's about as satisfying thing as an author could ever hope for.
Also, reading aloud to my own kids was one of my greatest joys as a parent. I'm honored to be part of someone else's parent/child reading experience.
Thanks for stopping by to say hello!
All best,

Hi my name is Antonia and I am reading the monsters ring it is the best book I ever read in my life also are you thinking about writing a new magic shop book bye
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Antonia -
Glad you're loving The Monster's Ring. I have a special fondness for this book because it was the first chapter book that I published. Also, Russell and Eddie are based on kids who were in my class when I was a teacher!
There are four more Magic Shop books for you to read. Sadly, I am not planning on writing any new ones at the moment. I am working on other projects right now.
Thanks for stopping by to say hello. Happy Reading!
