Hi!!!!!😋 I read your short story Old Glory. I just wanted to tell you how good it was. I loved the irony of the uniforms of the Uncles. And how a phase that meant Save Our Souls, now it means Shoot on Sight. You have a very good sense of irony and I loved all of the hidden meaning. Now to the questions!
How did you come up with the idea for this? It's a very unique thing, where in the future no one has freedom.
Why did you set in the near future?
What other book have you written like this one?
How long and how many drafts does it take to write a short story? I know that each paragraph and every word I'd very important because there is not much room to write anything not important.

How did I come up with the idea? I usually write from a happy place. This is the only story I can remember writing from pure rage, when the first President Bush was pushing for a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning - which, to my mind, was trashing the First Amendment for some short term political gain.
I can't remember how many drafts I did for this, as it was quite a long time ago. I've never done less than three drafts, and usually it is many more than that. My most recent book had about 15 drafts.
