I’m always eager to read your comments about my books and stories, so please feel free to pitch in. Here are a few things for you to know:
1) I answer the messages here personally.
2) No message shows up here until I actually answer it to prevent spam and other inappropriate postings. So there will sometimes be a delay before your message posts, especially if I am traveling.
3) Teachers, a gentle request: Please do not have multiple children send me variants of the same message. A group email is much easier to respond to and not such a drain on my time. My thanks in advance for being alert to this.

Bruce,
Thank you for responding to me and for your encouraging words. That meant a lot to me. The book has a good story, teaches valuable lessons and is beautifully illustrated. If anyone in your circle has more than a passing curiosity.....

Hello Mr. Coville 🙂 I've searched everywhere and I can't seem to find the name of the character that you were originally going to put in the place of Cara in the Unicorn Chronicles--the Hispanic girl? I was wondering if you could remind me. I'm (finally) putting to use a plot bunny that's been running around in my head for the past few years and making a fanfiction, and I thought of putting a girl with her name in it as a cameo. Or a joke that only I will get. XD Thanks!

Hi, Nicole -
The character I first intended to send to Luster was named Rafaella de la Cruz.
Good luck chasing that plot bunny!!

Hi, Noa -
Ah, I love hearing from my overseas readers! It delights me to know that the chronicles are being read all the way around the world in Oz!
Many thanks for "better than Harry Potter" . . . it's pretty much the ultimate compliment in my world!

hey bruce its danielle i wanter to ask you if you are writing another book if so what is it and i wanted to ask you what is your favorite color?
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Danielle -
Right now my main writing work is involved with trying to revise and polish a book a finished a few months back. It's a sequel to GOBLINS IN THE CASTLE and - for now, at least - it's called RETURN TO NILBOG.
My answer to "favorite color" will sometimes vary depending on the day you ask me and how I am feeling. But most of the time it is green.

THANK U FOR ANSWERING MY MESAGE I WANTED TO ASK YOU IF YOU COULD MAKE SOME UNICORN CRONICAL BOOKMARKS?
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Danielle -
Usually bookmarks are made by the publisher, as part of their work in promoting a book. However I will think about the request, as it might be nice to have some.
All best,

Hi, Danielle -
Thank you for this lovely message. I think often of the writers who inspired me to want to write, and it means a lot to me to think that I am helping to pass that torch along. I wish you much luck and joy in your own writing endeavors!

I finished Book of Magic today. I was surprised--and delighted--to see a Magic Shop story that was never mentioned on this website! We didn't get to see the shop but it still was a really good story!

Hi, Chrissy -
Glad you liked the Magic Shop story. It is actually available on the website now as a download. It was the first story I wrote to perform with the Syracuse Symphony, and we had such a glorious response to it that it will always have a warm place in my heart.

NINA IS A GREAT BOOK FOR EVERYONE TO READ ARE YOU MAKING MORE
Reply by Bruce Coville
Thanks, Brianna! There are three Nina Tanleven books in all. I have been working on a fourth one, off an on, but the publisher decided they didn't want it. I am not sure what I will do with it now.
Those books are particular favorites of mine, since I based Nina and Chris on my daughter and her best friend!

I read Book of Monsters today. I liked the way you expanded the first story when you made it into Always October...but why did you change the main character's name?
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Chrissy -
Glad you enjoyed ALWAYS OCTOBER. As to "why did you change the main character's name?" . . . well, that's a good question, and I'm not sure I have a good answer. I think the most likely reason is that I was struggling to break out from the short story (I had to let go of sooooo much from the story when I made it into a novel) and changing the name of the main boy helped me feel like it was a new story.
All best,

You're such an inspiration to me! Having someone with the same last name to look up to is great. Not only do I now own a successful book review site but I'm also in the editing process of my first novel! The world of writing is for me and you led me to it. Thank you a million times. 🙂

Hi, Samantha -
Given what little I know of our family name, it is almost a certainty that we are related in some way. There aren't that many of us! I am delighted to know that I have been an inspiration to you, and I wish you the absolute best of luck in pursuing your writing. Maybe someday we'll be doing a signing together!
