Welcome to the Guestbook!

I’m always eager to read your comments about my books and stories, so please feel free to pitch in. Here are a few things for you to know:

1) I answer the messages here personally.

2) No message shows up here until I actually answer it to prevent spam and other inappropriate postings. So there will sometimes be a delay before your message posts, especially if I am traveling.

3) Teachers, a gentle request: Please do not have multiple children send me variants of the same message. A group email is much easier to respond to and not such a drain on my time. My thanks in advance for being alert to this.

Dear Mr. Coville,
We have read all of the Moongobble books. We loved them. Please write more Moongobble books. It is a good series. We have lots of questions. We want to know what Moongobble is going to use the Dangly Boo for. Does Edward have a baby brother or sister? What will happen to Oggledy Nork? Do the old woman and Oggledy Nork get married? Why did you stop writing Moongobble books?

Ahoy, Mrs. Winters' Class! I'm so happy to know that you've enjoyed the Moongobble books. I loved writing those stories, and I loved the characters.

Alas, my publisher has decided that five Moongobbles was enough. I think they are wrong. I think there should be a dozen Moongobble books!

Anyway, that answers your question about why I stopped writing the Moongobble books . . . the publisher didn't want any more.

To be honest, I wouldn't know the answers to your other questions until I actually wrote the stories!

Thanks for writing to me . . . and keep reading!

Hello Mr. Coville. I hope you don't mind seeing frequent visitors like me in your guest book. If it's annoying please let me know. Anyway, I had this idea that since Cara's story in the Unicorn Chronicles is finished, maybe you could make another series of Unicorn Chronicles books with another character who was featured in the Unicorn Chronicles series or perhaps do a series of books which are prequels to the Unicorn Chronicles series, maybe read about events which occurred before the first book. I'm sure they'll be awesome reads.
Anyway, I hope you are well.

Hi, Amanda -

Oh, I don't mind repeat o/f/f/e/n/d/e/r/s/ visitors at all!

It would be hard to tell you how very much I want to write more books about the world of Luster. And your suggestion, about having stories about some of the other characters, is exactly what I had in mind when I created the series.

Alas, the publisher does not want any more books in the series at this point, and it seems unlikely that that will change.

Sigh.

Hi, my name is Jamie, I am 14. I learned to love books by starting on your Unicorn Chronicles. I have started my sister on the books as well and she has progressed so much in her reading abilities since page one. She asked me to contact you, she wants to know what a delver looks like. Do you think you would be able to provide some sort of picture for her? I cant find one on the web. Thanks! -Jamie

Hi, Jamie -

Nice to hear from you, and delighted to know that you got your start loving books via the Unicorn Chronicles.

Alas, I don't have any pictures of a delver, as the books were not illustrated. However there is a fairly detailed description of a delver in Chapter Three of the first book.

Thanks for writing to me!

Hello Mr. Coville! My boyfriend and I are both huge fans of you. When I was little, my dad read the first two books of the unicorn chronicles to me. I loved them so much and they made such an impact that even now, as I have just turned 25, I still love them! I just recently re-read the first two and read the third and fourth for the first time. The fourth was a bit hard to find. It took myself and three of my friends (who are also big fans of the books) a month or so, but we finally ended up tracking it down in a library. I was so riveted and pulled in to the story that I spent practically two whole days not being able to put it down!!! I loved it but there are many questions left unanswered. Are there any plans of continuing the series? Or is that the last of it?
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Rashell -

It delights me more than I can say that your love for the Unicorn Chronicles has not diminished. I'm terribly sorry that you had such a hard time finding the fourth book. Scholastic let it go out of print, and never did a paperback edition, something I am, to be honest, fairly bitter about. Not just for my sake. It is so unfair to the readers to not have the last book available!

I would love to do more books in the series, but Scholastic doesn't seem to be interested. Alas.

Writing the fourth book was really challenging, the hardest writing task of my career. So it means a great deal to me that you were riveted by it!

Thanks for this lovely message.

Ah, thanks for this. I'm delighted that you love the Nina Tanleven stories.

I would be happy to sign the books for you. What you would need to do is send them to my office (there's a contact info page on the website) and include postage for me to send them back to you.

All best,

Hi Mr Coville,
You may have answered this question previously, but after scanning the previous posted questions, I cant seem to find the answer. My daughter is a big fan of your Unicorn series. I recently tried to purchase The Last Hunt for her birthday, but I don't seem to be able to purchase it anywhere. Can you advise if the book is out of print please?
many thanks
Reply by Bruce Coville
Hi, Bethwyn -

I'm sorry to report that the book is indeed out of print. Please feel free to bug Scholastic about this. I think it was unconscionable of them not to keep the fourth and final volume of a continuing story in print for the your people who read the first three.

Hi Bruce .Hope all is well so so happy to see Katherine has a book out is she going to do any book signing .I have some of yours and a old one from way back that she also signed my favorite the foolish giant. Would love to get her book and have her sign it.I can't wait to read it to my grandchildren. Thank you Lori

Hi, Lori -

Thanks for the good words about Kathy's book. She doesn't have any signings lined up at the moment. (She is terribly shy, and really not that interested in getting out in the public eye.) I will be putting the book up on my website so people can buy autographed copies that way. Look for it on the book page in a week or so.

Always a delight to hear from you. Hope all is well!
